Membership in Alpha Kappa Lambda is by invitation only. New Member recruitment is an ongoing process with focused recruitment drives twice each year; once in the Fall and again in the Spring. The Active Members, Alumni Association Board and Chapter Advisors all take an active role in the selection of New Members.

Every effort is made to encourage men to live in the Alpha Kappa Lambda house all four years. The esprit d' corps and in-house activities of The New Gamma can be more fully appreciated when the Member is immersed in the brotherhood of AKΛ. However, both opportunities are designed to meet the needs of Members during all four years of their time at the University of Illinois.
Alpha Kappa Lambda Housing Contract Synopsis (Gamma In-House)
Term period: August 1, 2010 - June 1, 2011. Student must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA or submit a waiver request to the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Membership fee: set by AKΛ National, $235 one-time. Other fees may include social or community service events, composite photos, etc. Members are encouraged and expected to participate in Chapter events. Refundable security deposit: $900. Subletting is forbidden. Maintenance and repairs are performed by the professional property management group only. Painting, remodeling, rewiring or building premises changes are forbidden. Room & Board amounts per year: $11,250 for single, $10,250 for double. Discount is given for early payment; processing fee is added for installment payments. Rent includes 17 meals per week, available during specified hours. Academic Scholarship: the AKL Education Foundation will provide first time AKL Gamma members in 2010 an ADDITIONAL one-time $1000 scholarship check made out to the University of Illinois to be paid to the University at the beginning of the second semester when tuition and fees are due. Thus the cost of room & board for the entire 2010-2011 school year will be $10,250 for single occupancy and $9,250 for double occupancy.
Alpha Kappa Lambda Affiliation Contract Synopsis (Gamma On Campus)
Term period: July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011. Student must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA or submit a waiver to the Alumni Assosication Board of Directors. Affiliation dues: $400 per semester. Membership fee: set by AKΛ National, $235 one-time. Other fees may include social or philanthropy events, composite photos, etc. Members are encouraged and expected to participate in Chapter events. Members are expected to comply with all Chapter rules, regulations and By-laws.
AKL Housing Contract
