  • Chris Disher Receives National Award

The Gamma Chapter Corporation Board is proud to announce that Chris Disher, '77 has been selected to receive the Alpha Kappa Lambda Alumni Distinguished Service Award at this year’s National Conclave.  This award is the highest honor to an individual member of the fraternity.  The award may be given not only for fraternity service, but also in recognition of extraordinary achievement by a man in his life work, and/or in service to university, country, and humanity.  Very few men have received this award and it is not necessarily presented each Conclave.

Chris was selected to receive this award not only because of his service to Gamma chapter but also for his service to the Illinois Greek Community.  His efforts to establish common practices, address troubling behaviors and challenge norms at one of the oldest and largest Greek systems in the country is no small feat.

Please join us in congratulating Chris on this incredible honor!

  • The New Gamma Chapter

Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity at the University of Illinois has a long history of cultivating men of character determined to make a difference in the world.  With more than 1,000 alums, Gamma Chapter is one of the oldest fraternities with a strong alumni support network.

As a result of Alumni generosity and commitment to giving back to AKΛ, our home at the corner of 4th & Daniel Street has been restored with all new living space.  With the reopening in the Fall of 2010, the men enjoy personalized suite living, the Chief Illiniwek Scholarship Room, excellent dining, a 2200 sq ft recreation room, fitness center, full-size basketball court, open terrace and private onsite parking.

There have been some questions around Alpha Kappa Lambda's New Member Program changes for the upcoming year and beyond.  For those who haven't read the info, please click here.  Gamma leadership is always available to share more detail on how the National Headquarters came to this decision.  We know this is a significant change from how we've all joined Gamma, but are here to help ensure we continue to be a fraternal organization of choice on the U of I campus.
